AU Optronics Corporation (AUO) was formed in September 2001 by the merger of Acer Display Technology, Inc. (the former of AUO, established in 1996) and Unipac Optoelectronics Corporation. In October 2006, AUO acquired Quanta Display Inc.

Innolux

Originally established in 2003 and publicly listed in 2006. The company merged with Chi Mei Optoelectronics and Toppoly Optoelectronics in March 2010, in what was the largest merger in the flat panel display industry. Chimei Innolux Corporation was the successor company, and it initially preserved the Chimei name. In order to differentiate itself from the ChiMei brand, the company was renamed “Innolux Corporation” in December 2012.

RiTdisplay

RiTdisplay Corporation, founded in 2000, is the first company in Taiwan to invest in research and development (R&D) and manufacturing of the organic light-emitting diode (OLED). RiTdisplay combines the cutting-edge technologies, innovative R&D, and customer-oriented sales and marketing strategies to provide the most advanced flat-panel display products to satisfy the customers’ needs. The R&D and the development of manufacturing technologies at RiTdisplay have brought about more than 100 patents, approved and pending.

JID

Japan Display Inc. (株式会社ジャパンディスプレイ Kabushiki-gaisha Japan Disupurei) (JDI) is an LCD technology joint venture by Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi.

The Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) financed the merger of Sony, Toshiba, and Hitachi’s LCD divisions into one entity by investing two hundred billion yen.

The agreement was finalized November 15, 2011 and operations began April 1, 2012.
